Meet Caitlin, The Humble Farmgirl; dedicated to Kingdom building for Christ and walking wholeheartedly with Jesus! Caitlin is passionate about sharing inspiration for lifegiving foods, and cultivating a beautiful homemade lifestyle.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:2

Hello, I’m Caitlin, also known as, The Humble Farmgirl. Allow me to give you a warm welcome! I love sharing nourishing recipes, inspiration for timeless old-fashioned skills, and what I am learning in my life as a daughter of the King of Kings.
About Me
Some people tell me I was born an “old soul” and I would have to agree. I live with my husband, Nolan, on our beautiful multi-generational homestead in Primm Springs, Tennessee where we embrace the simple life and traditional values. As a homemaker, homesteader, cookbook author, and expectant mother, my life is full of daily adventures, and I embrace every moment!
Humble Beginnings
I was raised in the beautiful small town of Waxahachie, Texas, a quaint community with a rich heritage.
From the time I was little, the simplistic beauty of country life enamored me. I was the one in the schoolyard who, while others played tag, imagined I was Laura Ingalls venturing across the prairie. I remember, as a wide-eyed little girl, listening to stories of my ancestors living the farm life. To me, those stories were nothing short of a fairy tale.
As a romantic at heart, it has always been the old-fashioned and simple moments that bring a smile to my face. I am always ready for a meandering road trip, especially with a picnic basket in hand. If you crave a cup of tea and a heart-to-heart chat about your journey with Jesus, I’m your girl!

In the Kitchen
When I was thirteen, I learned to cook using the Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook and fell in love with bringing people together over delicious nourishing food. My journey with this lifegiving way of eating blossomed into something I never imagined. The Lord blessed that experience and, as soon as I turned eighteen, I became a certified Trim Healthy Mama Coach until 2025. To this day, I enjoy creating recipes that are just as delicious as they are nourishing. You can still find a list of my favorite THM recipe creations here.
When it comes to food, I am definitely what you would call a purist. Between kefir, sourdough, apple cider vinegar, and more, you can always find a few crocks fermenting on my countertop! Sourdough is a family staple and has always been a favorite hobby of mine, which I now sell to friends and neighbors. Here you can find my FREE versatile sourdough recipe download!
Humble Farm Life
When I was 15, my family (I am the oldest of eight children) relocated to 50 beautiful acres of farmland in Waco, Texas. We affectionately named that place Humble Farm, where I began my journey as The Humble Farmgirl. Those days were filled with such wonder and excitement as we forged a life of good old-fashioned hard work, reaped reward, and enjoyed every little moment.
Those years were incredibly formative, yet my journey had just begun…

This Humble Journey Continues
On September 27, 2025, I began the most beautiful chapter of my story as I married the love of my life and became Mrs. Nolan Schrum! God has blessed me beyond measure with the most thoughtful, compassionate, strong, wise, and godly man for my husband. He leads and guides me in a strength one can only receive from the Holy Spirit.
I know, in these last few months, I have learned more about the heart our Lord has for His bride, the church, than ever before. And it’s all because of the way my husband demonstrates his love for me.
Days before we got married it was laid on Nolan’s heart for us to write a vision statement for our family; a statement to help us stay focused on God’s mission for our new family. It is my prayer that anything I ever do or say would first be aligned with God’s divine mission for me and my family.
Three months into our marriage, God blessed us with a little miracle due to make his appearance in September 2026! Our first arrow in our quiver, to steward and one day launch into the world, as we fight the good fight of the faith.
Today we live in a little cabin (the Little House cabin of my dreams!) nestled in the beautiful wooded hills of Middle Tennessee. Along with our family, we operate an ever growing multi generational homestead.

A Few Things to Know About Me
Since I was ten years old I have enjoyed playing guitar, and now my husband and I often lead worship together at our church.
I am a lover of teatime and have collected an almost embarrassing number of teacups! I have lost count of the number of tea parties I have hosted. Never have I turned down the opportunity to sit with family and friends over tea and a delicious treat! Since I was very young I have actually dreamed of opening a garden tea room.
My sister and I have spent five and a half months as interns (Ruby Girls) for the Above Rubies ministry. We made so many lifelong friends and experienced the power of God in the most incredible ways! It was truly a life changing experience!
Antique roses are my favorite flowers!
I adore cottage core design and love to go thrifting for vintage finds.
One of my favorite pastimes of late has been lighting a candle and worshiping the Lord while soaking in a hot bath. Yes, I realize it’s an interesting combo, but you do some interesting things when you’re pregnant. 🙂
My passion is to share my love for cultivating hospitality and lifegiving food with others. Check out my Instagram page @thehumblefarmgirl for inspiration in the home and Biblical womanhood. Here, I share my sourdough (and other recipe) creations which are rooted in life-giving nourishment and what I am learning as a daughter of the King on an exciting journey following Jesus. I hope you will join me on this wild ride!
