This festive and flavorful Holiday Spice Iced Tea is a wonderful beverage to serve at a Christmas gathering or to the family this holiday season!
For many years our family has enjoyed visiting the Magnolia Silos in Waco, Texas. At the Silos there is a food truck that specializes in their southern style sweet tea. They serve the tea in a cute mason jar with a red striped straw and around Christmas they serve their holiday tea. One year, while we were at a Magnolia Christmas event, we decided to give this iced holiday tea a try. It was delicious! We liked it so much that I decided that I had to try and make my own version at home so we could enjoy it all the time. Plus, I wanted to see if I could create a version, sweetened with stevia extract, that would taste just as good. I came home, did a little experimenting and, voila, created my version of Holiday Spice Iced Tea!
I like to make up a large pitcher full of this tea when we have company over during the Christmas season. If I am serving this at a Christmas party, I like to place out a bowl of cinnamon sticks and frozen cranberries as festive red ice cubes! The glasses of tea look so pretty with the cranberries floating on top! You could also offer orange slices or any other holiday tea additions. Sometimes we make a large batch for our family and store it in the refrigerator to be enjoyed over the next couple of days. This drink is a family favorite, so I included it in my 12 Days of Healthy Holiday Recipes series, featured on my Instagram page.

How to make Holiday Spice Iced Tea
This tea was simpler to make than I thought it would be! It is easy to throw together before company arrives.
- Boil 5 cups of water and set aside.
- In a tea infuser bag or basket add 5 Tablespoons of your favorite black tea.
- Add three cinnamon sticks to a 6-cup tea pot or pitcher. Place the tea infuser in the pot and pour the hot water over the tea and cinnamon.
- Allow the tea to steep for 15 minutes
- In a large 1.5 to 2 gallon pitcher add all of the prepared tea and cinnamon sticks. The cinnamon sticks will stay in the tea to keep infusing it with cinnamon flavor. Add 6-8 “doonks” of THM Pure Stevia extract or sweeten to taste with your sweetener of choice. Stir to dissolve the sweetener.
- Add enough water to fill the pitcher and stir everything to combine.
- Serve with frozen cranberries, cinnamon sticks, orange slices and your additions of choice.
Hot Tea Variation for Teatime
Being a Texas girl, I certainly have enjoyed iced tea during teatime. However, on chilly days I sometimes desire a warm cup of tea. In this case, I make the tea concentrate with two tablespoons of loose-leaf tea and only steep the tea with the cinnamon for 5 minutes. You can also add sweetener and a splash of cream to your cup if you desire!
Trim Healthy Mama Friendly
This Holiday Spice Iced Tea is sweetened with pure stevia extract which makes it Trim Healthy Mama friendly. I use the THM brand of Pure Stevia Extract because of its level of purity and sugar-like flavor. You can find out more about Trim Healthy Mama and their amazing products here.
