This Salty and Sweet Holiday Fudge is a wonderful treat to bring to a Christmas party, serve at a tea, or simply surprise your family! This recipe is a Trim Healthy Mama S, which means it is low glycemic and full of healthy fats. This is a healthy treat you and your family will want to enjoy all year long!
Anyone who knows me well can probably tell you that I have a thing for chocolate. In my opinion, no dessert table is complete without some form of this rich, sweet, and slightly bitter treat!
Growing up, I always associated fudge with Christmas. My aunt would put together pretty little boxes of fudge and give them as gifts to the family, so to me the day and the dessert just went together. Fudge has always been one of my favorite holiday treats and I think many can relate!
It wasn’t until I was about ten years old that my family went to the Cabela’s fudge shop, and I realized that people actually enjoy this amazing treat year-round! The array of beautifully gourmet delectables was incredible! However, out of all the many exotic flavors, the more simplistic chocolate and peanut butter flavors remained my favorite.
My love for this festive treat led me to make this the first recipe in my 12 Days of Healthy Holiday Recipes series, which I have featured on my Instagram page.
The flavors in this fudge recipe are inspired by my fondness of the salty and sweet combination. The fudge itself is a traditional chocolate fudge with the addition of a salty peanut butter filling. To top it off, I add a salted caramel drizzle.

Questions
Can other sweeteners be used in this recipe?
Yes! I use the Trim Healthy Mama Xylitol-Free Gentle Sweet, however if you don’t have that or would prefer to use another sweetener you could use powdered monk fruit extract, liquid stevia, or another natural low glycemic sweetener. Just be aware that the amounts used will change, so you will need to taste as you go to determine how much to add. The texture of the end product may vary too depending on the sweetener you end up using.
What kind of chocolate should I use in this fudge?
There are several kinds of stevia sweetened chocolate chips on the market. Bake Believe, Lily’s, and THM all have good options. I recommend using a semi sweet, bittersweet, or dark chocolate.

- 2 Tablespoons THM Gentle Sweet Blend

Instructions
- In a small saucepan combine all of the chocolate fudge base ingredients. Melt over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the chocolate is smooth. Remove from heat.

- For the filling, cream together coconut oil and peanut butter with a fork. Add all of the remaining filling ingredients and mix together until a thick paste forms.
- Scoop about one tablespoon of the filling into the palm of your hand and roll into a ball. Press the ball out into a very thin layer and lay onto the chocolate in the pan. repeat this process until the whole surface of the chocolate is covered.
- If the remaining cholate in the saucepan has started to solidify, set it back on the heat until it has returned to a pourable consistency. Pour the remaining chocolate over the top of the peanut layer and spread it to the edges of the pan.
- Chill the fudge in the refrigerator for six hours or until it has set up.
- To make the caramel drizzle, brown the butter over medium heat. Be sure to not let it burn! Add the sweetener and salt, stirring to dissolve. Add the cream and allow it to bubble for one minute or until the mixture has slightly thickened. Stir in the vanilla extract and remove from the heat.
- Remove the fudge from the fridge and drizzle the caramel on top. Allow the fudge to chill in the refrigerator for five minutes.
