A Season to Gather the Harvest

Fall has always been the season I anticipate more than any other. It is the long-awaited gathering — when the fields yield what was sown in faith and the kitchen fills with the fragrance of cinnamon, roasted squash, and fresh bread. There is something about autumn that makes me want to open the doors, fill the kitchen, and invite everyone to the table.

I have been pondering 2 Corinthians 9:10–11 and the way it applies to our call to be hospitable: our Father has entrusted something precious to us as women — a home, a family, a table, a season. Just as a farmer does not create the seed or make his harvest grow, we are not expected to produce the harvest on our own. He supplies the seed. He gives the increase. Then He invites us to take what He has placed in our hands and sow it faithfully.

“God has already supplied the seed. Now, let us sow.”
